Sometimes I absolutely love Christmas carols. And then I hear gems like “Grown up Christmas Wish” and I want to never hear a Christmas carol ever again. EVER. But then I hear Mr. Michael Buble sing “have yourself a merry little christmas” and we’re back on track.

Laduree opening in manhattan! I can’t decide if that is amazing or horrible!
10 things I love about this short-work-day,...
1. Meeting a friend for burgers and shakes at the burger joint.
2. Sitting in the sun and reading British Vogue along the Highline.
3. My crazy outfit today: pale blue pants and a navy blazer (channeling east coast prep-school I guess!)
4. A weekend of Alexander McQueen, lobster rolls, BBQs and beaches to look forward to!
5. Although I’m sad my hero of a little brother isn’t with...

Only good thing about being sick on a Saturday night, time to watch “Out of Africa.” Digging a young smokin’ Robert Redford and the safari style.
Began cleaning out my room for the big move (just to another apt. in NYC) which is going down in about 6 weeks. 2 garbage bags of books and 5 garbage bags of clothes later, I still feel like I have SO MUCH STUFF! I moved here with two suitcases! 2! How did I acquire this much crap in 4 years?! Word of the summer: Edit.

LOVE this. The older I get, the more traditional I seem to become.

I don’t know what’s better, the fact that a link called “the Oxford Encyclopedia of Maritime History” exists on our company intranet or the fact that I spent 30 minutes looking up pirates on it.
I know there are thousands of very worthy and significant causes to contribute to, but for personal reasons, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is mine. If you are willing and able, please help my friend Tierney as she raises money for this very worthy cause. Money raised in this effort supports the work of the world’s best and brightest researchers in their search for better therapies and...
For those that think the art world is glamourous, picture this: me standing in the rain on the sidewalk holding not one, but two broken umbrellas, stuffing a veggie sandwhich from a bodega into my mouth in between doing sneaky reconaissance missions and then walking into a very well dressed establishment looking like a drowned rat with my lipstick smeared all over my face. Happy Wednesday. I am so...

After the craziest, most insanely busy 5 weeks ever I am very much looking forward to having a weekend of doing not much aside from sleeping, brunching, shopping and drinking (although I wouldn’t mind another week long trip with my family, either!) Here’s to longing for the weekend on Wednesday!

one of my favorite 30 rock moments.
Liz Lemon: Kenneth, why did you play that terrible hand?
Kenneth Parcell: Why? Because I believe that life is for the living. I believe in taking risks and biting off more than you can chew. And also, people were yelling, and I got confused about the rules.
HAVING A COKE WITH YOU
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irún, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona
partly because in your orange shirt you look like a better happier St. Sebastian
partly because of my love for you, partly because of your love for yoghurt
partly because of the fluorescent orange tulips around the...

Just received the below subject line of an email.
NEWSFLASH: NYC to Moscow Fares Now $398 Roundtrip (incl. Taxes).
Let me get this straight. I can fly to MOSCOW for about as much as I can fly to Austin, Texas. How does that even make sense?!

I’m in it for the snacks, chit-chatting and Glee. If the Saints or Giants aren’t involved, I don’t care.

Jury duty in a few phrases
sitting in a dreary room ALL DAY long, sitting next to a guy with a weird and disturbing growth on his ear, funny lawyer during voir dire, frantically texting my lawyer friend trying to find catch phrases that will get me out of sitting on a jury, the best people watching I have ever experienced, making good use of my new kindle, eating crepes during lunch break, going back tomorrow morning to do...

5 things that I should probably be embarrassed...
1. My last 4 downloads from itunes have been songs from Glee.
2. I saw a movie by myself last night (on date night) and am pretttttyyy sure I was the only solo person there.
3. The movie was The King’s Speech and Colin Firth is still my absolute number one after about 10 years, and yes this means current middle-aged Colin Firth. What can I say? I have a type. Middle-aged, BBC British man....

I’m something of a mess today. I have about a million and one thoughts about this day and about the fact that my brother deploys to Iraq on Monday. Any words I say or write feel inadequate. Sometimes there are no words, just prayers for healing, safety, peace and a better tomorrow.
Really creepy/awesome blog. Check it out. →

Officially 6 days and about 18 hours...
until the first round of thesis work is due. Home stretch. Don’t ask me how it’s going unless you want me to kick you in the shin. Things I’m going to do when I turn it in:
- Drink a martini (or maybe a few)
- Get a massage
- Get my grubby little paws on the British Vogue September issue
- Do laundry/deep clean my room
- Go to yoga
- Enjoy Labor Day in NYC with one of my...

– Rainer Maria Rilke.
Lovely. Big fan of Rilke and this quote certainly rings true. Lately, I’ve been trying to see the adventure in the unknown instead of fearing it. How boring would life be if we had all the answers available to us at this very moment? As the wise (…?) Miley Cyrus...

That’s otherwise known as Texas at least 5 months out of the year. But I guess in Texas we also have pools, excellent air conditioning and transportation with excellent air conditioning.
