- Rizzo talks about food or eats

- Someone says “Merry Christmas”

- Someone complains about being hungry and/or cold

- Beaker flips off Scrooge

- Jacob and Robert Marley laugh at their own jokes

- Michael Cane gets a visit from a ghost

-  THE BELL TOLLS ONE! (and TWO! and THREE!)

- Young Scrooge calls Sam the Eagle “Headmaster”

- Someone says Fozzywigs

- Tiny Tim has a coughing fit

- Michael Cane gets tear-eyed

- Mrs. Cratchet speaks ill of Mr. Scrooge

- Someone mentions Tiny Tim might die or he actually does die.

For about one year straight, my college roommate and I LIVED in dad pants. “What are dad pants?” you might ask. You know…sweat pants that one buys at wal-mart, target, academy, those kinds of places. They feature an elastic waist (complete with drawstring) and elastic at the ankles. They come in really awesome colors like light grey, black, charcoal and hunter green. While we eventually gave up the dad pants our senior year (one of us because our mother burned them and one of us because they just plain wore out), but look what we have here! J.Crew has come out with these little loungewear items. While I won’t wear them out in public anymore, I feel it might be time to revisit the dad pants.

At a Luncheon in Lubbock at which I was the youngest person in the room by at least 25 years, I encountered this little dessert: chocolate covered pecan pie with caramel AND raspberry syrup. Yes it was wonderfully, horribly, disgusting and yes that bite was taken in between the salad and main courses.

I don’t think I’ll have time to post this tomorrow so I’m doing it now on Thanksgiving Eve. I am incredibly, incredibly a thousand, million times blessed. I have SO many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving and I am humbled and grateful that The Big Guy Upstairs has been looking out for me and my loved ones always, but specifically during the last year.
I am thankful for…
- My family. They are everything to me and I don’t even have the words to say how grateful I am for so many prayers that have been answered concerning the Force family.
- My lovely, lovely friends. I could not have gotten through the past year without them and owe them so much. There a particular few that literally held me up when I could not do it myself. You know who you are. Thank you.
- Grad School. I am so glad I’ve found something that I love. It’s such a great change to get up in the morning and be excited about my day (or even about spending all Saturday in the library. NERD!)
- Being able to be home for such a long time! I realize what an oddity it is for people my age to be able spend more than a week at home at a time and I am so grateful I get to be home with my family (and puppy!) for 5 weeks!
There are thousands of other things but those are the main ones. Enjoy the holiday and eat lots of pie! (We all know the dessert is the best part of any meal, especially Thanksgiving!) Please take a moment to remember the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who are not able to be with their families this holiday season and pray/think positively/whatever your worldview may be for their quick and safe return.

You know it's time...

for finals to be over and to go home when you subsist solely on frozen peas, strawberry starbursts, wine and coffee for a week straight. Legitimately.

I woke up this morning with Texas on my mind.

Listening to Reckless Kelly (seeing them on Saturday at Brooklyn Bowl!!), perusing the photos from a rodeo in Vegas from Garance and The Sartorialist (above pic. from Garance) and researching J.M Whistler*. If I can’t be in Texas for another two weeks, this is doing a good job of keeping the homesickness at bay.

*Whistler has absolutely nothing to do with Texas. But I like him.

Ha! Bethany, this goes out to you.
Now, I had seen Rocky Horror Picture Show in HS (when you go to a magnet school and you and half of your friends are involved in the fine arts, it’s a requirement) but one of my favorite NY memories is after we first moved here, this little lady and I spent a ridiculous/wonderful evening in the west village/chelsea and saw this movie. We started at Magnolia Bakery, went across the street to the biography bookstore (my favorite bookstore in ny), where B bought me a fabulous bday gift that is still currently framed in my room and then saw RHPS. Little did we know that it was one of the showings with a group of people that DRESS UP AND ACT OUT THE MOVIE ALONG WITH THE IT. I was thoroughly frightened when we went into the bathroom and saw a girl dressed up as tim curry (above). CREEPY. However we got over it and loved the ridiculously campy movie and it’s followers. It was a great evening and every time I see Tim Curry’s creepy bug eyes, I will forever think of that night.
